I originally trained as an Electronics Engineer and worked on advanced military communications and later on telecommunications, in a variety of design, engineering management and leadership roles. I worked throughout the whole product lifecycle - concept, design, product development, manufacturing - and in product marketing which included the opportunity to work with customers in Europe, the Middle East and the Far East.
Latterly I was with a major international technology company in Harlow, with responsibilities at multiple UK locations and a two year assignment in Canada. I managed multi-disciplinary product development teams, as well as delivering strategic change of technology research facilities and processes.
Responsibilities also included a range of external community activities including an award-winning education programme, with focus on science and technology in local schools, and extensive engagement with local government, education institutions and business agencies.
More recently, in the Public Sector, I worked for a large local authority leading on: Business, enterprise and economic growth - business creation, encouraging innovation, attracting investment and jobs; and Culture, heritage and arts programmes - encouraging engagement, participation and societal benefits; the county archive service; and promoting tourism.
I delivered major service innovation, cost-effectiveness and successful commercialisation, plus strategic partnerships and securing significant external grant funding.
Since 2018, I now undertake consulting, coaching and project-based assignments where I can contribute from what I've learned about business, leadership, innovation, change, people, and getting things done. I work with commercial clients, and with the public sector.
